A day after a disappointing loss to the Cowboys, Brent Celek (left) and a few of his Philadelphia Eagles teammates were winning—at raising money to help kids with serious illnesses in local hospitals. Celek donned an apron and served Ruth Chris’ cuisine and fine wine to guests attending Brent Celek’s Celebrity Waiter Night. The event benefits Brent Celek’s Take Flight Foundation, which donates money to local hospitals to stock “kid corners” with iPads, iPhones and other electronics that take the kids’ minds off the treatments and stress affecting their daily lives. Below, left to right: Ike Reese, Michael Barkann, and Tanya Smith.
Below: Assisting in the waiter duties were Eagles teammates Riley Cooper (center), DeMeco Ryans (left), starting quarterback Nick Foles (second from left), Cole Anderson (right), and Trent Cole (second from right). Check out PhillyChitChat.com for the slick wheels that Cole just picked up. It had all the guests salivating as they posed with his prized possession.
Below: There were plenty of silent auction items and giveaways, as well as a lively live auction items. When a Trent Cole jersey was up for bid, Michael Barkann said maybe his co-host on the Mike and Ike Show, former Eagle All-Pro Ike Reese, would sign the inside of the jersey cause #58 was his number when he was a Philadelphia Eagle—but nothing really good came of it so they didn’t retire the number. It sold for $750, while a Nick Foles-signed helmet went for $1,100.
Below: Darryl Tapp is smiling broadly, not only after meeting the fans, but because wife Tiffany gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on November 6th, Taylor Nicole. He showed me a few pictures of the baby, including one where she is laying on a blanket in his helmet. So adorable. Tight end Clay Harbor is on the right.
Below: Celek’s good friend A.J. Feeley stopped by to help out too.The guests enjoyed a four-course meal, and each received a signed football by all the “waiters” on staff that night. Proceeds from the evening are going to put a lot of smiles on a lot of kids’ faces, and that Celek said, is really what his mission is all about.
